Elisa Gillespie, PT, DPT, OCS, CMTPT, COMT, LMBT, CKTP, SFMA
Dr. Elisa knows how important it is to active people to be able to get back to doing the activities and workouts they enjoy.
After a significant gymnastics injury when she was younger, she spent a lot of time in PT and gained an interest in the profession. While unable to return to gymnastics, Elisa remained active with dance and track and field. Elisa has exclusively worked in outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation settings during her career. She founded Gillespie Physical Therapy & Massage after growing increasingly frustrated with large healthcare systems and insurance companies dictating how to treat patients, with the lack of personal attention slowing or preventing patients from achieving their goals. It has been Elisa’s mission to help people live their best life and continue doing the activities they love, especially after she found herself dealing with headaches and neck pain that drastically affected her quality of life for a number of years, with doctors offering her no more than the option of taking medications to manage her pain. After experiencing the incredible effects of trigger point dry needling in treating her pain, she dedicated herself to learning the theory and technique of dry needling to better help others and prevent unnecessary suffering. Elisa graduated with her B.S. in Rehabilitation Science, and then completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northeastern University. She is licensed as a Physical Therapist AND as a Massage Therapist in the state of North Carolina. She has earned a number of certifications in her post-graduate studies including:
Elisa lives in Huntersville, NC with her husband and their young daughter. She moved to North Carolina from Long Island, NY in 2013 to escape the cold winters and overpriced housing. Elisa loves being outdoors in the moutains or at the beach and enjoys staying active through jogging/training for races, hiking, and attending exercise classes. |
