FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO I NEED A PRESCRIPTION OR PHYSICIAN's REFERRAL for physical therapy?
You DO NOT need a prescription or physician referral to see a physical therapist. You can make an appointment for physical therapy whenever you want and we encourage you to contact us as soon as you experience an injury or pain. Having immediate access to a physical therapist can often be the difference between your condition being acute/temporary or becoming chronic.

All 50 states enjoy some form of 'direct access' to physical therapist services. With direct access physical therapy, you are able to receive care quickly without having to wait for an appointment with your physician or specialist. Studies show that direct access PT is more cost effective by eliminating the need for unneccesary doctor visits, medications, injections, and imaging and also leads to a faster recovery with patients requiring fewer number of PT visits. If at anytime the physical therapist determines your condition is out of their scope of practice, they will refer you to a physician.

If you are seeing a physician or other healthcare provider(s), we can communicate with them with your consent and coordinate your treatment in order to achieve the best results possible and allow you to focus on healing.
what can I expect from my PHYSICAL THERAPY visit(s)?
During all sessions you will be treated one-on-one by a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Sessions are approximately 50-60 minutes long and are conducted in a private office, not an open gym area.

We take into account the whole body, not just the part that hurts or is injured. Our goal is to understand exactly what is going on, the root cause of the problem, and why it's important to you for us to help you solve the issue.
You will be prescribed a specific treatment plan which is designed to address the problems responsible for your pain and symptoms and help you return to the activities and workouts you enjoy.

It is impossible to predict the exact number of visits you will need as everyone's individual challenges and goals are unique. This is why we offer a Free 30-Minute Discovery Session, so you can get a clear understanding of what's going on and how long it may take to resolve before you commit to becoming our patient. If you choose to become our patient at the end of your Discovery Session, we will complete the evaluation and begin treatment at that time. On the other hand, If after talking on the phone you decide that you want to start right away with us, we will bypass the Discovery Session and schedule a full comprehensive evaluation and start your treatment plan immediately.

Physical Therapy is not a "quick fix" and you should expect to put in some work, however many people do feel relief within their first few visits. Most people experience a change or significant difference within 3 to 5 treatments and we typically have work to do even once your pain and symptoms have subsided because our goal is to help you become stronger and more resilient to this ever happening again. Sessions usually consist of a combination of hands-on techniques and instruction in corrective exercise. You also receive a personalized recovery program teaching you techniques and exercises to treat yourself at home that will reinforce your PT treatments in the clinic and support
long term prevention of your condition so you can stay healthy, active, and free of pain.
What should i wear to my appointment?
It is important for the physical therapist to be able to see and palpate the muscles and tissues they are examining and treating directly. You also want to be able to freely move through your range of motion so that the physical therapist can get an accurate assessment of your movement patterns. Please bring with you or wear a pair of loose comfortable shorts to your appointments and female patients should bring or wear a sleeveless shirt, tank top, sports bra or swim suit top.
